Set in the late 1970s, a steam train traveling from Ningyang to Hacheng. Young train officer Wang Xin meets veteran railway police officer Ma Kui — they start as rivals but become master and apprentice. Together they patrol the railways, fighting pickpockets, traffickers, drug dealers, and thieves while protecting passengers. Across the generations, this senior-junior duo witnesses China's railways evolve from steam locomotives to electric trains to high-speed rail, mirroring the rapid changes of modern China.
